We are, we are – Wu

we are we are
the world’s reflection
while searching for you
where the skies overlap the seas

we are we are
the waiting of the leaves
before they let go of you
and fade with your memories

we are sad sunsets
who have grown tired of waiting for you
woah woah everyday

we are we are
the hope in children’s eyes
til their eyelids cover you
and never waking up

we are we are
the pollens that lost their ways
after a long embrace with you
there’s no going back

we are sad sunsets
who have grown tired of waiting for you
woah woah everyday

we are sad sunsets
who have grown tired of waiting for you
woah woah everyday

Mary Jane

starting to think hazy
perspectives slowly consuming the light
worries left, it all feels right

watching the smoke dance
comouflage itself with the walls
as this weighty carriage falls

flowing in and out of my mind
this transient oblivion
convinces me to put it all behind
woah

trying to grasp the images
episodic memories conquer my soul
obliterate my heart’s painless hole

inhaling more questions
yet veiling from closure
Praying hard oh god
I hope this numbness isn’t torture

flowing in and out of my mind
this transient oblivion
convinces me to put it all behind
woah

Last Call

Image

Image

I opened my eyes.

Last call! He shouted on top of his voice.

Caressing each of our eyes across the pub with an inviting smile,
provoking each of our ears to force a message
into our half-drunk minds: One last
And in a blink of an eye, lost through intoxication and unsure,

I raised my hand,

signaling: Yes, One last

Last call! He shouted once more.

But this time, I was already holding a special mug,
a used-to-be-empty kind of mug, like everything else in the pub,
filled with choices: mine and hers.
And as these choices met my lips,
it was certain that I was unsure.
But I swallowed every drop anyway

until my sight reached its bottom.

All I can see was a blurry vision of what’s in front of me:

Nothing.
A blurry nothing.
And so I let my eyelids cover the world.
I was supposed to be with her again.

I opened my eyes.

Last call! She shouted on top of her voice.

Kalmado

Aside

Aside

Sinubukan na ikasa,

hindi makahinga

ang daliring kapit patalim sa gatilyo.

Itinutok sa tudlaang nakaharap sa iba,

kabadong pag-asinta

sabay sa usok mula sa sigarilyo.

Sunud-sunuran ang mata

saan man dalhin ng asintahan.

Handa bang iputok kahit peligroso.

Ligaw na bala

na ako ang putirya,

hindi nakasakit kundi sumaklolo.

Testing the water

Aside

Dip your toes into the ocean,

body

slowly

adjusts to the temperature

of moisture

touching the skin,

little by little,

soaking and sinking into the deep,

shallow,

and uncommon-filled silence,

since pressure deafens

and weakens the sense of sound.

Taking shape of

each gesture,

free will is not but available

as an option,

only to let go

and dance

along with the choreography

your heartbeat and the waters’

had formed.

But as you look up,

slightly blinded by the rays

from the burning sun trying to penetrate

the thick walls of dark blue

(sometimes greenish but usually clear),

spaces seem to be calm

yet suspicious.

Stuck

Stuck, a temporary state of imprisonment without shackles that remind you where you are.

Thoughts are rattling imaginary steel bars staring back as if grinning,

mocking every breath of stress that blankets clarity in a warm battlefield of choice.

Now, you wait.
